Sea Otter Craft

Create this adorable sea otter craft. Sea otters live in the ocean and are know for being playful and cute. They love floating on their backs so recreate this with this crafty activity. Perfect for a fun family craft, preschool lesson or in addition to a book or lesson on ocean animals at school. You can even turn this cute sea otter into a valentine with him holding a heart.
To get started print the templates out on cardstock or construction paper.

After, cut out the pieces of the sea otter. The lines of the cut outs are thick to allow for any cutting mistakes. This is a great activity that allows kids to improve their fine motor skills.

Next, use a glue stick to attach the light brown half circle to the bottom of the dark brown circle. This will create the sea otter’s face. You will also glue the light brown circle to the crown circle to create the otter’s body. You will attach this to any paper color you choose for your project.

Glue the sea otter down on a piece of blue paper to make him look like he is floating in the ocean.
Next, attach the smaller brown ovals to the sides of the otter’s head. Half will be glued behind the head allowing the other half to stick out. Repeat on both side creating the otter’s ears.

Glue the heart to the middle of the body and add two of the larger brown ovals on top of them. These are the arms and should look like they are holding the heart.

You can also glue the rock into the otter’s hands for an accurate object an otter might be holding.
Glue the last two brown oval to the bottom of the otter at an angle to look like its little feet. The triangle tail will be glued at the bottom of the otter’s body.

Let’s add details to make the otters face. First, use a marker to draw a capital letter D on the otter’s face. This will be its nose, color it in completely with whatever color you choose.

Turn the otter and draw a capital D to create nose.
Then using a marker draw a mouth below the nose.

Next, add black ovals as eyes and color them in completely. Add white circles in the middle to complete the eyes.

Add eyes to the otter's face.
Last, add whiskers on the side of the mouth.
